Kafka Hibino (日比野カフカ, Hibino Kafka)
A 32-year-old cleaner working for “Monster Sweeper,” a monster specialized cleaning company. Although he had given up on his childhood dream of becoming a member of the Defense Force,
he harbored unresolved feelings upon seeing his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro, gain fame as the captain of the Defense Force’s Third Unit.
However, an encounter with a young man aspiring to join the Defense Force, Ichikawa Reno, reignites his determination to pursue his dream once again.
Kaiju No. 8 (怪獣8号, Kaijū 8-gō)
Kafka Hibino’s transformed state, parasitized by an unidentified small monster, is a formidable creature with tremendous power that overwhelms other monsters.
Becoming the first monster since the establishment of the Defense Force to elude defeat, he turns into a being pursued across Japan.
Reno Ichikawa (市川レノ, Ichikawa Reno)
A young man aspiring to join the Defense Force starts working part-time at Monster Sweeper. Initially, he viewed Kafka, who had faced setbacks, with a cold eye, but he comes to respect him after getting to know his character.
Mina Ashiro (亜白ミナ, Ashiro Mina)
The captain of the Third Unit of the Japan Defense Force and Kafka’s childhood friend. At the age of 27,
she has subdued hundreds of monsters and boasts top-class popularity and skills among all unit captains. She excels in handling sniper weapons and specializes in subduing large monsters.
Kikoru Shinomiya (四ノ宮キコル, Shinomiya Kikoru)
A prodigious talent hailed as the greatest in history, she graduated early from a prestigious foreign monster subjugation university and is the sole daughter of the Japanese Defense Force Director,
Kikoru Shinomiya. She boasts the strength of a squad leader even before enlisting, thanks to her exceptional sense.
