“Quality Assurance in Another World” is a manga created by Masamichi Sato and first published online by Kodansha on their Comic Days platform in May 2020.
By April 2024, it had been compiled into eleven volumes. A TV anime adaptation by 100Studio and Studio Palette is set to debut in July 2024.
Synopsis
Haga, a member of the covert exploration team “King’s Seekers,” journeys through a world teetering on the brink of collapse, encountering various anomalies along the way.
He faces dragons that should dwell deep in the mountains, yet repeatedly attack and burn a village; a village where people are frozen in place; and vast voids beyond the walls.
Alongside Nicola, a girl he rescues in the starting village, Haga navigates this malfunctioning world.
His true mission is to debug this unfinished, fully immersive VR game—a tale of trials and tribulations within a digital realm.
Introducing the main characters
Haga (ハガ)
In the small kingdom of Beil on Crebon Island, a man continues his investigation of dragons on the fringes of the realm.
He is actually one of the elite agents known as King’s Seekers, secretly dispatched by the king.
He investigates various phenomena, including the illnesses of crown princes and heirs of various nations, and the abnormal behavior of monsters, to determine the causes of these disturbances.
Nikola (ニコラ, Nikora)
In a remote village on the outskirts of the Beil Kingdom, a 14-year-old girl who was gathering firewood nearly falls prey to a swarm of dragons but is rescued at the last moment by Haga.
This event leads her to form a close bond with him. Despite the villagers’ objections, she decides to join Haga, a Seeker, on his travels.
Amano (アマノ)
A spirit magician (shaman) of a race called “Feather,” who resemble small beasts, lives quietly in a small village where he sought a peaceful life while writing stories.
Akira (アキラ)
A woman of the “Road Elf” race, notable for her long ears. She possesses the skills of a fighter and uses a greatsword in battle.
She believes in accepting things as they are and living naturally as an inhabitant of the world.
